What’s Inside

The alkaStream was designed like a recipe. Each component by itself is good, but when they are combined together with the correct proportions and a little love, the final product is enormously better. Like Grandma’s kitchen.

As you scroll down the page, you’ll find what the ingredients look like, why they were selected and what they do.  At the very bottom you’ll find a cross-section view of the canister so you can see how it all fits together. It turns out making nutritious water isn’t hard… it just takes the right recipe.

The Ingredients

AlkaStream’s unique water is created through 8 layers of filtration and energizing media working together. The water is fed in from the bottom of the canister and up through the various layers.

We’ll start at the bottom and work our way up.  Just like the water.

1. Ceramic Filter Membrane – This is the first layer the water encounters.  It stops the sediment, the floaties and things you can’t see, like cysts, from getting through.  Anything 2 microns (which is microscopically small) and larger is kept out of your glass.  This is the piece you’ll clean every month and where you’ll get a close up view of how much junk is in our water.  This component is from Asia… where they do amazing things with ceramic.

2. Ion Exchange Resin – This looks and feels a bit like the yeast used when making bread.  In the alkaStream, the purpose is 2 fold.  Most of the US has fairly hard water and we need to soften it up a bit so it’s easier to improve.  We also needed an effective way to neutralize fluoride…a ridiculously difficult toxin to get rid of.  This resin can do both. We source this from the US.

3. Catalytic Centaur Carbon – There is a scale used when evaluating carbon filters. The activated charcoal stuff you find in big box retailers is at the bottom.  It doesn’t last very long and really only reduces chlorine.  Because of the never-ending evolution of toxins added to our water, they miss a bunch.  The cream of the crop is this type of catalytic carbon.  It’s 8x more absorbent than activated and is known to remove the widest range of volatile contaminants, colors, tastes, odors, pesticides, chlorine, chloramines and cancer causing creations like THMs.  It also does a great job with things like mercury, copper and lead.  We don’t need a ton to be effective which means we can keep the canister small and sleek.  Again, this is produced in the US.

4. KDF, Magnesium and Catalytic Carbon - This layer, halfway up the canister, begins the transformation from filtration to energizing.  KDF is the best way to remove heavy metals such as lead and mercury.  We also add another layer of carbon to keep pulling out anything that may have gotten past the first layer.  Now that the water is super clean, we start dressing it up the way it was meant to be.  This first layer of Magnesium reacts with the water and creates what’s known as free hydrogen.  The most primitive antioxidant ever discovered.  This is where the water begins to take on the hydration and antioxidant properties.  KDF and Carbon again are from the US, the Magnesium comes again from Asia…where they have been using it for this purpose for a long, long time.

5. Energizing Media – This entire layer is full of Magnesium.  The sole purpose is to create as much antioxidant goodness and beneficial hydrating qualities as possible.

6. Trace Minerals and Far Infrared Ceramics -  In this stage we do 2 things.  First we add the trace minerals using bio ceramic beads.  Those beads provide up to 70 beneficial trace elements and produce a water with the perfect pH balance.  The far-infrared ceramics are used to further improve the hydrating qualities of the water.  Each of these is sourced again from Asia, where they have been using them for decades.

7. Catalytic Carbon and KDF – A small layer to polish the final taste and remove any unwanted non-beneficial trace elements.

8. Neodymium Magnetic Field – This final stage is all about hydration.  We use a magnet about the size of a silver dollar, but formed like a doughnut.  The clean, mineral rich, antioxidant water is fed through a small hole in the middle of the magnet. Magnets have been used for decades and are known to stabilize the negative electrical charge, reduce the size of water molecule clusters and soften the surface tension.  You can’t tell by looking, you can’t tell by tasting, but you can tell by the way it feels going down. We often get feedback saying the water seems “wetter”. This is why.

The Final Product
